HOMEOPATHY

A whole-person approach to health and wellbeing.

Homeopathy is an individualised system of complementary healthcare. Rather than looking only at a diagnosis or isolated symptom, the consultation explores the wider picture — physical symptoms, emotional wellbeing, life circumstances and the way each person experiences their health.

AT A GLANCE

Homeopathy looks at the person, not only the symptom.

Maggie’s approach is based on careful listening and individualisation — understanding what is common to a condition, but also what is distinctive about the person experiencing it.

◎

Individual

Each consultation begins with the person’s own story, circumstances and particular pattern of symptoms.

♡

Whole-person

Physical, emotional and mental wellbeing are considered together rather than as isolated parts.

⌁

Gentle approach

Homeopathic remedies are prepared through serial dilution and succussion and are used in small doses.

Thoughtful follow-up

Follow-up consultations review changes over time and help decide what, if anything, is needed next.

YOUR FIRST CONSULTATION

A calm, unhurried space to be heard.

A first consultation gives time to talk in depth about the concern that has brought you, your wider health history and the ways your symptoms affect everyday life. Maggie pays attention both to the familiar features of a complaint and to the details that make your experience individual.

1

We listenYou have space to describe your story in your own words.

2

We understandThe wider picture is explored — including physical symptoms, wellbeing and life context.

3

We individualiseMaggie considers the information as a whole when deciding on a homeopathic prescription and follow-up plan.

SUPPORTING LIFE AT EVERY STAGE

Homeopathy for adults

Adults often come to homeopathy with long-standing or recurring concerns, periods of stress or change, or simply because they want a consultation that gives time to consider the wider pattern of their health.

Maggie’s role is to understand the individual picture and decide whether homeopathic care is appropriate alongside any conventional care already in place.

PRINCIPLES & HISTORY

A long-standing system with a distinctive way of looking at health.

Modern homeopathy developed from the work of the German physician Samuel Hahnemann more than 200 years ago. Its central ideas include individualisation and the principle commonly described as “like treats like”.

⌁

“Like treats like”

In homeopathic theory, a substance associated with certain effects is used in highly diluted form when a person presents with a similar pattern.

◎

Individual remedy selection

The prescription is based on the person’s overall pattern rather than on the diagnostic label alone.

♡

Whole-person picture

The consultation considers physical symptoms alongside emotional wellbeing, mental state and life context.

REMEDIES

Natural source materials, carefully prepared.

Homeopathic remedies may originate from plant, mineral and animal sources. During manufacture, the starting material is repeatedly diluted and succussed according to homeopathic pharmacy methods.

Maggie selects remedies according to the individual consultation rather than simply matching a remedy to the name of a condition.

Plants

Many remedies begin with plant materials such as flowers, leaves, bark or roots.

Minerals

Others originate from minerals and naturally occurring substances.

Animal sources

A smaller group originates from animal sources and secretions.

THE HOMEOPATHIC PROCESS

A thoughtful process, from first consultation to follow-up.

1

Listen

We take time to understand your story, symptoms and wider context.

2

Understand

The individual pattern is considered as a whole.

3

Select

A homeopathic prescription is chosen according to the consultation.

4

Review

Follow-up looks at what has changed and what the next step should be.

SOME COMMON QUESTIONS

Clarity and reassurance.

If you have a question that isn’t covered here, please do get in touch.

Can I use homeopathy alongside conventional treatment?

Many people use homeopathy as a complementary approach. Tell Maggie about medicines and treatment you are receiving, and do not stop or alter prescribed medication without discussing it with the clinician responsible for your care.

How is a remedy selected?

The choice is individual. Maggie considers the main concern together with the wider pattern of symptoms, wellbeing and circumstances described during the consultation.

What happens after the first consultation?

You will be given guidance about the remedy and follow-up. At the next appointment Maggie reviews what has changed and decides whether to wait, repeat, change the prescription or take another approach.

Is homeopathy a replacement for medical diagnosis or urgent care?

No. Homeopathy should not delay appropriate medical assessment, diagnosis or urgent treatment. Maggie may recommend that you contact your GP or another healthcare professional where appropriate.
